What's going on in my life?

Work- Well, I've been working. Love it. That whole depressed, laying
on the couch thing was really getting old:)

Meetings-I've been going to my regular meetings, which is good, but
not enough. I haven't really been spiritually feed in a long time.
What I mean by that is that I haven't heard anything profound enough
to remember it when I walk out the door. Now don't get me wrong it
isn't because profound things aren't being said I'm just tuned out. So
I added my favorite Womens meeting back in the mix. It is the meeting
I get the most out of so really it never should have fallen out of the
mix in the first place. Progress not perfection I guess.

Kids- the big one is grounded for the remainder of the summer and the
little one is going to Seattle next week to visit Aunt Amy and
Grammie. We have been spending lots of family time together playing
board games and such. Love, love, love them! Even the big naughty one:)

Dating- nada. Please let me know if you have a wonderful, honest,
single man you would like to set me up with:)

That's it in a nutshell. How are you all doing?

  1. I'm going through a divorce, just moved back to my home state, living in a home that I have to be thankful for, but not so thrilled with. I have to keep giving it to my HP, but some of the things I'm waiting on are hard to wait for, job, permeant housing, ugh!! On. A good day I am excited about starting a new life sober, on a bad day, I'm in my own head, and sad and mournful of what I may have lost without being married. But I am sober and thats what keeps me going. It will get better, one day (or moment) at a time!

    How is everyone else?

  2. I agree with doggielover Em - take it one day, one hour or one minute at a time - whatever YOU need to do to get thru this. Doggielover - I'm so proud of you sweetie! You continue to amaze me with your strength & resolve every day - remember that I am always here if you need to vent, talk, etc. Remember ladies - "This too shall pass".....and then you both will move into a new chapter of your lives - this won't last forever.

I am good - leading an ARU meeting tonite at our local hospital - I'm so glad I got involved in doing these - they are soooo good for the patients in the detox unit, but they are also sooo good for me to remember what it was like and where I don't want to go back to. I will have 7 months of continuous sobriety in 2 days on the 22nd and am looking forward to that. Once I get my 1 year, I plan to begin taking meetings into our local jail (I hate that word) - I like detention center better - anyway, I plan to begin taking mtgs to those detained due to DUIs, anything related to alcohol that they are being detained for. I really look forward to adding that to my life.

Out the door for more World Series games now. Our team didn't start off too well, but SOMEHOW, we squeaked in to the championship bracket - they took the top 16 teams and we are #16 - WOW! So hoping the boys play really well this morning cuz if they lose, we have to play again today at 2:45 p.m. and it's supposed to be 115 degree head index - YUCKY!!!!

I love you both, keep your chins up, do whatever you need to do to keep your sobriety and keep smiling....remember, it does get better!

I'll see you next week Ms. Em and we will have lots and lots of time to talk - oh, and I forgot to remind you, I wanna go to one of your meetings - I know you have the Thursday nite one - when is your womens group meeting? Maybe we can go to both.

Hugs & love to all that follow Em's blog & I hope many of you are finding sobriety - let us know what's goin on with y'all :)

  3. Hi All,
Emily, I'd really like to see the Dr. Phil show that featured you. Any idea how I could get that on the internet?
And to Annette, what is an ARU meeting?
    Thanks!
Hope you all are staying cool, I think most of the U.S. is sizzlin'.
    Hugs to all,
    Kate

  4. Kate - Alcohol Rehab Unit or Detox...people check themselves in or are brought by ambulance or have friends or family check them in to detox from alcohol...they stay anywhere from 3 to 10 days, sometimes longer depending on their situation...we take a mtg into them just to give them #1 HOPE and #2 information on our program of recovery - it's merely to help them make a plan for when they are released back into the real world and want to stay sober. It's amazing how good it feels to really reach out to those still suffering. I really feel like we got through to 2 guys tonite - they really appeared to be surrendering and sick and tired of being sick and tired. For their sakes, I hope they are done and are willing to give sobriety an honest attempt.

It was blazing hot at the ballpark all day - 115 heat index to be exact...right now at 10:45 p.m. it is still a balmy 98 degrees - so ready for this heatwave to be over!!! What's the weather been like in AZ Emily? Hopefully it will be cooler than Kansas - I REALLY HOPE!!!

  5. Kate,

You can see parts of the show/read transcripts on drphil.com ... "moms who drink" which aired on 6/24/2010. You can also order a tape http://drphil.burrellesluce.com/SearchResults.asp?searching=Y&sort=5&cat=178&show=10&page=2
