Sobriety Sunday

HOW BLESSED WE ARE

Sometimes we forget how blessed we are. Set your affection on things above, not on things on earth.
Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight, just remember the homeless family who has no bed to lie in. Should you find yourself stuck in traffic, don’t despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege. Should you have a bad day at work, think of the man who has been out of work for the last 3 months. Should you despair over a relationship gone bad, think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love and be loved in return. Should you grieve the passing of another weekend, think of the women in some world country, working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for $15 to feed her family. Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance, think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk. Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror, think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine. Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering, "What is life all about, what is my purpose?", be thankful--there are those who didn’t live long enough to get the opportunity. Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities, remember, things could be worse. You could be them!

I am grateful I am where I am today. Comin up on 7 months this week, but TODAY, I'm grateful to be sober today.....many are still struggling and I pray for them every day.

Hope all is well with everyone - it's been eerily quiet on here lately.

  1. Annette, I agree, it has been really quiet on this blog lately. I can only tell you what has been happening with me. My former sponsor slipped two years ago and hasn't been back since. I emailed her this past week and she will call when she gets back from Michigan. We will find new sponsors together. She's a great gal and was a great sponsor. She had five years. Just goes to show you that any of us can slip at any time. Doesn't matter how many years we have. Love and hugs to you all. Kate

  2. Kate - I agree....it can happen to anyone at anytime...that's why I take it one day at a time and pray for God's strength every morning and throughout the day as I need it.

  6. Kate - drop Em and email and she can get you my email address - I would LOVE to hear more about you and your story :)

Cinoda - I have been having some problems bringing up this site too recently - it's really, really slow and then one day it was popping up emilyism in 100's of different windows - it only did it that one time. Seems to be better yesterday and today.

Em - I hopefully will be seeing you one week from today!!! Yeah!!!! So excited!!! But I hear that Casey Anthony has gone into hiding in Prescott, AZ - hopefully it's not total chaos there :) Email me Emily and let me know your schedule.

Happy Monday to all!!! Off to baseball - the World Series for my oldest starts this morning and goes till Saturday - gonna be a hot, hot, hot week!

  7. I like your post Annette, it is something I have to work on everyday lately. The site has been messing up a bit, I lost some of my comments and then I didn't have time to re-do them, technology!!!

We do have to be thankful for what we have, we have to work our program. I have to find a 2nd sponsor in my new area. I will never give up my 1st, but I need facetime with someone to really be accountable and make sure I am working the program and not rewriting it!!!

Hope you all have a great day.

Annette, I hope you have a great time with Emily!

  8. Hi Annette,
Good luck to your team! Everyone drink lots of water!!! I was out at 6:00 am with our dog and it was already steamy. :(
Anyway, I'd love to give Emily my email to share with you. Please just tell me how to do that. I'm not real good with computers, still learning. :)
    Stay cool, all. Hugs.

  9. Kate - you can just click on the "contact Emily" box top right corner of this blog directly under her picture - those emails go directly to her.

Our team ended up losing both games today :( It was soooooo incredibly hot....1st game at 8 a.m. it was low 90s and 2nd game at 1:15 was 100 at the beginning of the game and 104 at the end of the game - I'm definitely "in" for the night....we'll be back at it tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. again.

Doggielover - Happy to hear that you're not giving up your original sponsor and that you're gaining another one. You go girl - amazingly strong woman you are....my next trip might have to be to come see you :)
