  3. I hope you don't think I'm rude but why do you need donation? Are you running a charity group?
I'm totally not being rude, just trying to understand.
    Thanks

  4. ^^ Ummm....that was pretty rude, although you say that isn't how you intended it. Does it matter why? We are all friends, a community working together for a common goal, and we are happy to help each other out- God knows, Emily has helped me out more than she knows.

  5. To Guccigirl,
I believe Sober Julie was sincere in asking what the donation is for. Maybe she is new to the sight and was asking out of sheer curiosity.A more respectful response should have gone something like....Some people in this world have a great support system with family and close friends that they can lean on financially when need be.Others have to reach out for help beyond their comfort zone knowing that they will "pay back" with what they have to offer in wisdom and strength.Emily, having started this sight has helped many people stay focused on the real situations that arise in our lives,by giving us a sounding board we can work through them together. It is similiar to donating blood, you dont know who it is going to but you should feel good doing it because one day you may need it!
    Peace

  6. I donate for 2 reasons....1) I love Emily and she has become a very special, close friend; and 2) her weblog has helped tremendously to keep me sober.

This was the very 1st place that I honestly admitted that I was an alcoholic back in 10/09....Em, Randy and mommaof3 were there for me, encouraged me, supported me, gave me information and loved me unconditionally - they were all I had at that time. They were my only support from 10/09 to mid 12/09 when they finally helped me gather the courage to go to my first meeting on 12/18/09....and for all of that I am incredibly grateful. No amount of money could make up for the love & support I've gotten from Em, this site and it's many followers....I have a wonderful life today and I attribute much of it to what I have gotten/taken from here.

Just my 2 cents...hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Hugs to all!!!! My youngest is having his 10th Bday party tonite - bowling, laser tag, pizza, cake/ice cream and 9 boys sleeping over - aye,yi,yi....it's gonna be a looonnnngggg night :)

  7. Oh, almost forgot....I too think Sober Julie was being sincere....sometimes it's hard to detect a person's tone merely from words typed on a blog....she's been around for quite some time now and I personally don't think she was trying to be mean - now that's just my 3 cents - haha

Just remember that we are all here to love and support one another :)

  10. I also at one time questioned the need for donations, then I had to remember that at all of my meetings, we pass the basket to help with literature for the newcomers, coffee and rent for some of the buildings to hold our meetings in. Thank God, some churches donated the space, but not all. Will get a donation out ASAP.

  11. I appreciate the responses, even the challenging one ;)
I really didn't know....I am relatively new to blogging and thought it best to ask directly.
