Talking to another Alcoholic

Yesterday it took me about 20 minutes to turn off my shitty committee. You know what I did? I called another alcoholic. Come to find out most of us have a "perfection" complex. It's never enough. Just telling someone, and hearing that they understand where I was coming from, totally took the power away from it.

Everyone, even me forgets that WE ARE NOT ALONE! That crap running through our heads that makes us think and feel like were crazy...that's just alcoholic thinking. Talk to another alcoholic and you'll see quick as can be that you are not alone.

-Alcoholism is the only disease that tells you that you aren't sick-
We truly do need each other!

  1. Thanks, Em. I'm on Day 9 now and was JUST thinking I could probably have a glass of wine tonight.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  2. The great thing about talking to and hanging out with other alcoholics is that they totally GET ME! We're all so alike! What an unexpected blessing of my sobriety it's been!

That is the TRUTH!! Talking and helping one another really does make it easier!! Anonymous, so happy you are on day 9 and that you didn't have the wine.

I saw my sponsor today and she always makes me feel better!

Thanks Emily, I hope your job is going well!

  5. Yes we are, after "going out", at 88 days, really showed me I'm definitely an alcoholic, (alcoholic thinking, I'll never make it a yr., so why pick up my 90 day chip, I'm not going to celebrate, but I knew what I was choosing, and I am Powerless! I'm grateful it happened, because I'm not giving up, and the meetings, they are strangers I've met, who one feels pretty quickly, yep these are my "peeps"!
