Can we do it alone?

Why in the heck would we want to do something like that? All alone? Trapped in our own minds...I think not. I heard a saying the other day that totally made sense to me "We can't fix our sick minds with our sick minds." We really can't, and when we try we become sicker and sicker. A support group, that is the answer to most of our problems...Can emilyism.com be your support group? Sure one of them, but face to face contact with other alcoholics is SUPER important. There will be times in your sobriety that they will save your life, and that's a guarantee.

Here some links to a few support groups...
Alcoholics Anonomyous
SMART recovery
Celebrate Recovery

I think we can all guess which one I use, but whatever one works for you is what ever one works for you. Pray about it, try to trust God, and take some action. Please let me know if there are anyothers out there, and I will add the link.

  3. Oh my gosh, I was just thinking about this on my way home
from work. Lately I've been so hurt by other's comments, actions. Today I asked myself, Is it me? I think it is! And
I thought, if I am going crazy, how would I know it except
to feel more hurt by other's comments, actions. So, I guess
my sick mind just realized it can't fix my sick mind! Thank you for that dose of reality.

  4. I personally use AA as my program to stay sober...and its saved my life. Face to face contact, open communication with another alcoholic, is the only way I have been able to stay sober..coming up on 9 months sober.
An ex of mine went to a rehab facility http://www.narconon.org/. It did not work for him, however he openly admits that he did not give it all he has.
Feel free to add it to your list!

Also, please say a prayer for my step father tonight. He refuses to get help for his alcoholism, from any program.
Thank you so much for this site, Emily!
