Money

Money, I am soooo sick of worrying about it! At this point emilyism.com isn't making enough to even cover the Internet bill, it may look like it does, but it doesn't. It is stressing me out. I decided a long time ago that I would keep on blogging everyday regardless of whether or not this site made any money. I get that when I blog on here it builds a community for people to give and get support, it is important and I love doing it. I refuse to comprise my morals for money (which is probably why I'm so poor:)But it is also why you don't see anything flashing or popping up at you when you log on here. I want this to be a safe, calm place for people to come and there is nothing safe about inappropriate things flashing at you as far I'm concerned.

Here's my idea, I am going to add a self-help section. The plan is for it have resources that we all may need...interventionists, life coaching, rehabs, etc... If all works as planned that will generate enough income to keep the power on:)

What can you do to help out? Click on and use the businesses on the side bar, spread the news about emilyism.com to your family and friends who may need it or add it into your face book status. Oh' and there's a donate button on the side bar...hahaha...hint, hint:) If you know me then you know that asking for help is hard for me, I'm the given of help not the getter (is that even a word?)

Okay that's enough talk about money, it's making me want to throw up:(

If you know anyone who would like to advertise please let me know! Also, I would love to hear your ideas about how to make our site a better place!

  1. It's so hard not to worry about the reality of finances. I was out of work for about 10 1/2 months recently & getting pretty stressed when nothing was heading to the positive side. I'd get tired of hearing "everything will be fine." "It will all work out soon."
"Things will get better." All the usual cliches that weren't paying me anything but words & well wishes.
Well, it did work out ok, finaly, thanks only to some unforseen intervention by my HP. My way wasn't working. Thanks HP & Kathleen.
I was not alone, & you are not either. I do not totally understand how the internet pays off, but I do know I can look for advertisers & donate.
You are juggling a heavy combo here of keeping your site safe, clean, & with a peaceful atmosphere for recovery. You are right to not compromise yourself or your objecive to help others survive with this illness...
Take care of yourself first. Do what you feel in your heart you need to do for you & others, like us, will benefit as well...

  2. Emily...I have been in publishing for about 25 years. What I see here, what I read, what I feel, what helps me and others. It's HUGE! This site and your blogs along with the stories are very much worth publishing. Not to mention that you already have been featured on both TV and magazines. You definitely could write a book here, be published and make some great cash WHILE helping others. You and what you have to say are VERY marketable.

I feel the Big Book is sorely lacking today's realties. I would imagine that everyone here that has posted would be more than thrilled to be helping others through your blogs and their responses. I know I would.

I should be clear that I am not an agent, but you would not have a problem getting one!

    Peace

  3. Sorry to hear of your financial woes. I did not know there were expenses involved with a blog nor that you could earn money from having one. I'd love to hear how it all works!

What I would love to see added would be a forum/bulletin board where we could post questions, thoughts, etc. and get answers, opinions from others. I would benefit from more interaction. I don't know if this is a possibility but I would love to see something like that.

Thanks so much for this site. I am so glad I found it. It is helping me in this struggle.
