Lights, Camera, Action...

Today I am shooting a service announcement for the government called "Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving". It took me two years of sobriety not to feel like a hypocrite when I talked about drunk driving. I did it, so who am I to tell someone else not to right!? Well I am a person who knows first hand the hell you go through when you get a DUI. As I was talking to the people about filming this video I remembered that I did actually get a DUI while driving buzzed, I also got one while driving shit canned but first things first. I got that first DUI before I had lost myself to alcoholism. I didn't drink and drive for years after that. The deal is you forget. You forget the embarrassment, the depression and the pain of what you went through and just like me most do drink and drive again.

  3. I was out there driving drunk for 40yrs, & never got a dui. Not for lack of trying, but my friends always said "you drive pretty good when you're hammered." So, I became the DDD of my crowd. Designated drunk driver... I always took the credit for being lucky & good. Now, I realize to what extent my higher power & guardian angels were looking after me. Nobody does that on their own, & I thank God every day that no one was killed or injured. Now I can thank God that there is no way I can get a dui or injur anyone while under the influence because God, my little angels & my friends are keeping me sober, today... Thank you all, Randy L...

  4. Fortunately, I've never had a DUI. However, as I sat in rehab this past summer, a mother from Long Island NY killed herself, her children and her nieces drunk driving on a weekday morning. We all shook our heads and said that, but for the grace of God, it could have been any of us.

Thank you, Emily, for all the awareness you've brought to this issue. I've been following your story and your blog since reading your People Magazine article.
